How do I create a Tab that displays a filtered List View?

You can customize the default List View that appears when you select an Entity Tab such as Accounts.

Go to the Entity (or Force.com Integration). Select the Entity you want to modify. On the Entity, select the List Views tab. Select New and select Home Page option, then set the fields that you want to use as columns.

To only display filtered records as the default List View for an Entity Tab, you must create a new Link Tab.

    1. First, create the List View you want. Go to the Entity (such as Accounts) tab. Click on the View button and select Create New View. Under Specify Optional Filters, select the field(s) you want to filter on, select the Operator and enter the Value(s) you want to filter for. Under Restrict Visibility, select Visible to all Users. Click Save.

    2. Select and copy the relative URL. i.e. The portion of the URL that follows “domainname.com”. e.g: /Account/ListView/7Oo00000000002t0001

    3. Create a new Link Tab: Go to Setup. On the left, go to Create > Tabs. Click New, select Link Tab and click Next. Paste the portion of the URL into the Tab Link field. Add “?retURL=0” to the end of the URL. Click Next.

    4. Select the Tab Visibility for each Security Role and then click Next.

    5. Select which Apps will hold this Tab and click Save.

Once you have created this new Link Tab, be sure to remove the original Entity Tab.
