Using Direct Messages

    Users can send direct private messages to other users. By default, recipients will be sent a popup notification if they are online, or if they are offline, they will be sent an email notification. Users can use rich text formatting with emoji support to have conversations with one to nine other users at a time. Users can additionally share files and attach notes, snippets, and polls to direct messages.

    Requirements

    To send private messages, users must be assigned a security role with the following permissions:

    • Other Settings, Enable Direct Messages: On

    To use direct messages:

    1. In the upper right corner, click on your User Name and then click My Profile.
    2. Click Direct Messages. You can read your messages here.
    3. Click New Message.
    4. In the field, start typing the recipient's name and then select the recipient. Up to 9 users can be selected.
    5. Click Message.
    6. Compose your message. You can use rich text formatting to customize your message.
    7. If you want to share an item, click the '+' icon, then click the attachment you want to add. Configure the fields and then click Share.
    8. If you want to attach a note, snippet, or poll to the message, click the '+' icon, then click the attachment you want to add. Configure the fields and then click Share.
    9. Click Send.
