Article Lists

Article Lists allow administrators to arrange groups of Article Types together. Article Lists allow Posts from various Article Types to be aggregated on the same screen for easier browsing by users. You can display Article Lists as a unique page which can be used as a repository of various article types. Creating a new Article List will automatically generate a Tab.

Requirements

To create and edit Article Lists, users must have the following permissions:

  • Administrator System Role permissions
Note: While only Administrators can create and manage Article Lists, all users can view and browse Article Lists based on their permissions to view the Article Types within those lists.

Creating Article Lists

To Create A New Article List

  1. In Setup Home page, click Create > Articles
  2. Click Manage Lists
  3. Click New Article List
  4. In the Name field, enter a name for the new Article List
  5. Click Save
Result: A new Article List is created and a corresponding Tab is automatically generated for users with appropriate permissions to view the Article Types within that list.

Managing Article Lists

To Manage Article Lists

  1. In the Setup Home page, click Create > Articles
  2. Click Manage Lists
  3. All article types accessible to administrators will be shown in a drag and drop interface with Article Lists
  4. Drag and drop all the article types into the appropriate Article List
  5. You can edit or delete Article Lists by clicking the arrow beside the Article List name
Important Notes:
  • Each Article Type can only be assigned to one Article List at a time
  • Critical Warning: If you delete an Article List, its Tab will also be permanently deleted, which may disrupt user navigation and access to grouped content

Best Practices

  • Logical Grouping: Group related Article Types together for intuitive user navigation
  • Clear Naming: Use descriptive names for Article Lists that clearly indicate their content purpose
  • User Experience: Consider how users will browse content when organizing Article Types into lists
  • Exclusive Assignment: Plan Article Type assignments carefully since each can only belong to one Article List
  • Tab Impact: Before deleting an Article List, consider the impact on users who rely on the associated Tab for navigation

Article Lists work seamlessly with:

  • Tabs: Automatically generated for each Article List
  • Article Types: Can be organized within lists (one list per Article Type)
  • User Navigation: Provide streamlined access to grouped content based on user permissions
  • Security Roles: Tab visibility respects user permissions for underlying Article Types
