Foundation Setup and Configuration

System Requirements and Access

Administrator System Role Verification Ensure administrators have the proper Administrator System Role permissions required for complete Reports and Dashboards module configuration, entity management, and system-wide reporting functionality setup.

Security Role Configuration Configure appropriate security roles with Reports and Dashboards permissions including All Entities Report (system): Read, Create, Edit, Delete; All Entities Folder (system): Read, Create, Edit, Delete; All Entities Dashboard (system): Read, Create, Edit, Delete; and Tab Settings Reports: On for users who will create and manage reports and dashboards.

App and Tab Configuration Verify that the Reports Tab is enabled and visible in appropriate Apps for users who need access to the Reports and Dashboards module functionality, ensuring proper navigation and user access across the portal.

Entity Enablement and Permissions

Entity Reports Enablement Enable reporting for all relevant Magentrix and Salesforce entities by navigating to Setup Home > Create > Entities (for Magentrix entities) or Extend > Salesforce (for Salesforce entities), editing each entity, and checking "Allow Reports" to make entities available for report creation.

Master-Detail Relationship Configuration For entities with Master-Detail relationships, ensure that both parent and child entities have reporting enabled to support cross-entity reporting capabilities and complex relationship analysis that spans multiple data layers.

Entity Permission Assessment Review and configure appropriate read permissions for report source entities across different security roles to ensure users can access necessary data while maintaining security boundaries and data access control requirements.

Folder Structure and Organization

Report Folder Architecture Planning Design a logical folder structure that reflects organizational hierarchy, business processes, and user access patterns rather than technical system architecture, ensuring scalable organization that supports growing report libraries and diverse user needs.

Report Folder Creation Create initial folder structure using Reports Tab > New > New Folder functionality, establishing clear naming conventions and organizational standards that support efficient content discovery and long-term folder management.
