Configuring Tile Settings

Administrators can upload custom tile images that appear as the banner background on Resource Collection pages. The tile image provides visual branding and helps distinguish different Resource Collections.

Requirements

To configure tile settings, users must be assigned a user role with the following permissions:

  • Administrator System Role
  • Resource Collection Manage Access

Configuring the Tile Image

  1. On the Setup Home page, navigate to Create > Resource Collections.
  2. Find the Resource Collection you want to configure and click the Actions dropdown next to it.
  3. Click Tile Settings.
  4. Review the current tile image displayed under Current Tile.
  5. To change or remove the tile image, use the options described below.
  6. Click Save when finished.

To upload a new tile image:

  1. In the Resource Collection Tile Image dialog, click Upload.
  2. Select an image file from your computer.
  3. Click Open.
  4. The new tile image will appear as the banner background on the Resource Collection page.
Recommended specifications: The preferred image size is 240x170 pixels or larger with the same aspect ratio. Images that maintain this aspect ratio will display optimally across different screen sizes.

To remove the current tile image:

  1. In the Resource Collection Tile Image dialog, click Remove.
  2. The tile image will be removed and the default theme banner background will be used instead.

Best Practices and Recommendations

Use consistent branding across related Resource Collections to help users quickly identify collections that belong to the same category or department.

Select high-quality images that are visually appealing and professional. The tile image creates the first impression users have of the Resource Collection.

Maintain proper aspect ratio when creating tile images. Images that are 240x170 pixels or maintain the same 24:17 aspect ratio will display without distortion.

Consider color contrast between the tile image and banner text. If you're using banner headings and messages, ensure the tile image background doesn't make the text difficult to read.

Use images that reflect content within the Resource Collection. For example, a Resource Collection focused on technical documentation might use imagery related to technology or learning.

Test appearance across devices to ensure tile images display well on desktop, tablet, and mobile screens.

Optimize file sizes to ensure fast page loading. Compress images appropriately while maintaining visual quality.

Update tile images periodically to keep Resource Collections looking fresh, especially for seasonal campaigns or product launches.

Troubleshooting Tips

Tile image not displaying: Verify that you've clicked Save after uploading the image. Clear your browser cache and refresh the page if the new image doesn't appear immediately.

Image appears distorted: Check that your image maintains the recommended 240x170 pixel dimensions or the same aspect ratio. Images with different aspect ratios may stretch or compress.

Image file won't upload: Ensure the image file format is supported (typically JPG, PNG, or GIF). Check that the file size isn't excessively large.

Tile image conflicts with banner text: If your banner heading or message is difficult to read, adjust the Text Color in Banner Settings to provide better contrast, or choose a different tile image with less visual complexity.

Changes not appearing to users: Clear browser cache and have users refresh the Resource Collection page. Changes should appear immediately after saving for new page loads.

Removed tile shows default background: This is expected behavior. When you remove a custom tile image, the system uses the default theme banner background settings.
