Stores and Rewards Integration
The Stores module integrates with the Rewards and Redemption modules to enable point-based purchasing within storefronts. When the Redeem Points checkout method is configured, users can convert accumulated reward points into product purchases, transforming point balances into tangible merchandise, gift items, or other catalog offerings. This integration creates a complete incentive ecosystem where users earn points through reward program activities and redeem them for products in dedicated storefronts.
Integration Overview
Stores and Rewards integration enables administrators to create storefronts where customers pay with accumulated points rather than currency, provide tangible redemption options beyond gift card conversion, support partner and employee incentive programs with merchandise fulfillment, and create tiered reward experiences through exclusive product access.

Prerequisites
Before configuring Stores and Rewards integration, ensure the following prerequisites are met:
Rewards Module Configuration
- Active Reward Programs: At least one reward program must be configured and active with point-based rewards
- Point Distribution: Users must have mechanisms to earn and accumulate points through reward activities
- Point Balances: Users must have accumulated points available for redemption

Redemption Module Configuration (Optional)
While not strictly required for Stores integration, the Redemption Module provides complementary gift card redemption capabilities. Organizations may offer both product storefronts (through Stores) and gift card redemption (through Redemption Module) to maximize user redemption flexibility.

Storefront Requirements
- Store License: Valid Store license available for storefront creation
- Products Configured: Products created with appropriate point pricing
- Collections Organized: Optional but recommended for browsing experience
Configuring Redeem Points Checkout
To enable point redemption in a storefront:
- Navigate to the Setup Home page and click Create > Stores
- Create a new storefront or edit an existing storefront
- In the Checkout Settings section, select Redeem Points as the Checkout Method
- Configure remaining storefront settings as needed
- Click Save
Note: When Redeem Points is selected, payment provider settings (Payment Provider, Gateway Credentials, Available Card Types) are not required since no currency payment is processed. The Store Currency setting still applies for display purposes.
Checkout Method Comparison
Storefronts support three mutually exclusive checkout methods:
- Credit Card: Customers pay with credit cards through payment gateway integration. Requires Connected Apps configuration for gateway credentials.
- Place Order: Customers submit orders without immediate payment. Used for internal requisitions, invoiced purchases, or orders processed through external systems.
- Redeem Points: Customers pay with accumulated reward points. Requires Rewards Module with active point balances. Points are deducted upon order completion.
Important: Only one checkout method can be active per storefront. To offer both credit card payment and point redemption options, create separate storefronts for each checkout method.
Point-to-Price Conversion
The Rewards Module uses a standardized conversion rate where 100 points equals one unit of currency. This universal conversion applies consistently across all point redemption contexts.
Product Pricing for Point Redemption
When configuring products for point redemption storefronts, set the Starting Price based on the desired point cost:
- A product priced at $25.00 requires 2,500 points to purchase
- A product priced at $99.99 requires 9,999 points to purchase
- A product priced at $150.00 requires 15,000 points to purchase
Tip: When creating point redemption storefronts, consider setting prices as round numbers (e.g., $25, $50, $100) to create intuitive point costs (2,500, 5,000, 10,000 points) that are easy for users to understand and compare.
Point Balance Validation
During checkout, the system validates that the user has sufficient points to complete the purchase:
- User's available point balance is checked against the order total
- If sufficient points exist, checkout proceeds normally
- If insufficient points exist, the user receives an error message and cannot complete the order
- Points are deducted from the user's balance upon successful order submission
User Experience
Browsing and Selection
Users browse point redemption storefronts similar to standard storefronts:
- Navigate to the storefront through portal navigation or direct link
- Browse products through collections or catalog view
- View product details including descriptions, images, and point costs
- Add desired products to the shopping cart
- Review cart contents and point totals
Checkout Process
The point redemption checkout process:
- User proceeds to checkout from the shopping cart
- System displays order summary with point costs
- User confirms or enters billing/shipping information
- System validates user's point balance against order total
- User confirms the order
- Points are deducted from user's reward balance
- Order confirmation is displayed and receipt email is sent
Point Balance Display
Users can view their current point balance through the Rewards dashboard or "My Rewards" page. Point balances update immediately after order submission to reflect the deduction.
Order Processing
Order Records
Orders placed through point redemption are recorded in the storefront's Orders tab with:
- Checkout Method: Displays "Redeem Points" to identify point-based orders
- Order Total: Shows the currency equivalent of points redeemed
- Standard Order Fields: Billing information, line items, and order metadata
Administrators manage point redemption orders using the same order management interface as currency-based orders.
Fulfillment Workflow
Point redemption orders follow standard fulfillment processes:
- Order appears in Orders tab with "Submitted" status
- Fulfillment team reviews order and processes shipment
- Administrator updates order status to "Fulfilled" upon completion
- Optional: Customer notification of fulfillment status
Reward Record Updates
When points are redeemed through storefront purchases:
- Points are immediately deducted from the user's available balance
- The redemption is recorded in the user's reward history
- Redemption transactions appear in Rewards reporting
Common Integration Patterns
Partner Rewards Store
Organizations create dedicated storefronts for channel partners to redeem points earned through partner program activities:
- Partners earn points through deal registrations, training completions, and revenue achievements
- Dedicated partner storefront offers branded merchandise, technology items, and business tools
- Point pricing aligns with partner tier benefits and earning potential
- Storefront access controlled through partner security roles
Employee Recognition Store
Organizations provide employee storefronts for recognition program point redemption:
- Employees earn points through performance achievements, tenure milestones, and peer recognition
- Company store offers branded apparel, office equipment, and lifestyle items
- Storefront access configured for employee user types
- Products reflect company culture and employee preferences
Customer Loyalty Store
Organizations reward customer loyalty through point redemption storefronts:
- Customers earn points through purchases, referrals, and engagement activities
- Loyalty store offers exclusive products, early access items, and premium merchandise
- Tiered product access based on customer loyalty levels
- Point pricing incentivizes continued engagement
Best Practices
Product Strategy
Diverse Catalog: Offer products across multiple price points (point costs) to accommodate users with varying point balances. Include both attainable items for new earners and premium items for high-balance users.
Exclusive Items: Include products available only through point redemption to increase perceived value of the reward program and incentivize point accumulation.
Regular Updates: Refresh product offerings periodically to maintain user interest and encourage return visits to the redemption storefront.
Point Pricing
Value Perception: Price products to provide perceived value compared to retail prices. Users should feel their points have meaningful purchasing power.
Earning Alignment: Align product point costs with typical earning rates. Ensure users can reasonably accumulate enough points for desired items within expected timeframes.
Round Numbers: Use point costs that are easy to understand and compare. Round prices create intuitive point requirements.
User Communication
Storefront Promotion: Communicate redemption storefront availability through reward program descriptions, email announcements, and portal navigation.
Point Balance Visibility: Ensure users can easily view their current point balance before browsing the storefront to set appropriate expectations.
Redemption Guidance: Provide clear instructions on how to access the storefront, browse products, and complete point redemption checkout.
Troubleshooting
Issue: User cannot complete checkout - insufficient points
Solution: User's point balance is less than the order total. The user needs to earn additional points or reduce cart contents to match available balance. Verify point balance in the Rewards dashboard.
Issue: Redeem Points option not appearing in checkout method selection
Solution: Verify the Rewards Module is properly configured with active reward programs. Confirm that point-based rewards are enabled in reward program settings. Ensure the user account has Rewards Module access.
Issue: Points not deducted after order placement
Solution: Verify the order was successfully submitted (check Orders tab for the order record). If the order exists but points weren't deducted, contact Magentrix support for investigation. This may indicate a synchronization issue between Stores and Rewards modules.
Issue: Users cannot access the point redemption storefront
Solution: Verify storefront sharing settings include the appropriate security roles or user groups. Confirm users have active portal accounts with reward program enrollment. Check that the storefront is not restricted by other access controls.
Issue: Product prices not displaying correctly as points
Solution: Product prices are set in currency and converted to points at the 100:1 ratio. Verify the Starting Price field is set correctly on products. The Store Currency setting affects display formatting but not point conversion.
