Sharing Documents on Social Profiles

 

Users can post and share documents on their social profile for other users to view and download. Followers of the user will be notified of the post.

Requirements

To share documents on social profiles, users must be assigned a security role with the following permissions:

  • All Entities, Folder (system), Read: Private or All
  • All Entities, User (system), Read: All
  • Social Collaboration must be enabled on the portal

To post documents on your own social profile:

  1. Navigate to your Social Profile.
  2. Under Activity, in the box, click the Paper Clip icon.
  3. Upload or select the document you want to post.
  4. Click Share.

If the user is an employee, the document will be shared to all internal users. If the user is a community user, the document will be shared to the public (all users).

If you want to share the document to other users, modify the document's sharing permissions.

  1. Click the document.
  2. Click Share.
  3. Select the Share tab, then enter users or groups into the field, and then click Share to share the document to new users.
  4. Select the Settings tab to change existing sharing permissions.

Posting documents on another user's social profile:

  1. Navigate to the other user's Social Profile.
  2. Under Activity, in the box, click the Paper Clip icon.
  3. Upload or select the document you want to post.
  4. Click Share.
Note*: Message text and the file name will be visible to all users regardless of sharing permissions.
