Configuring System Settings

System Settings controls portal branding, application behavior, email configuration, SEO optimization, and advanced system features. These settings establish the visual identity and technical functionality that affects all users across your Magentrix platform.

Requirements

To configure System Settings, you must have:

  • Administrator System Role permissions

Configuration Process

Accessing System Settings

  1. Navigate to the Setup Home page
  2. Click Manage > Company Preferences
  3. Click Edit
  4. Select the System Settings tab
  5. Configure the relevant sections
  6. Click Save

System Settings Configuration Sections

Branding

Purpose: Controls visual branding elements and language display options for your portal.

Theme Builder Integration

  • Theme Builder: Access to the dedicated Theme Builder module for comprehensive portal design
  • Open Theme Builder: Click to launch the Theme Builder interface for advanced branding customization

Language and Visual Elements

  • Language Flags: Enable to display country flags in the language selector interface
  • Application Fav Icon: Upload image file for the browser tab icon (favicon) that appears when users visit your portal
  • Default Logo: Upload primary portal logo image file displayed throughout the portal interface
  • Print Logo: Upload specific logo image file used in print mode and email communications
  • Social Image: Upload image displayed when portal content (articles, documents, videos) is shared on social media platforms
    • Recommended specifications: 1200 x 630 pixels with 1.91 aspect ratio for optimal social media display

Application General Settings

Purpose: Configures core application behavior, naming, and feature enablement.

Application Identity

  • Application Name: Enter your portal's display name as it appears to users throughout the interface
  • Copyright Statement: Enter copyright text that appears at the bottom of portal pages
  • Application Page Title: Enter text appended to browser page titles for SEO and user navigation

Feature Controls

  • Mobile Layout Enabled: Check to enable mobile-optimized responsive design for tablet and mobile device users
  • Show Powered By: Check to display "Powered By Magentrix" attribution text on your portal
  • Google Analytics Tracking Code: Enter Google Analytics tracking code for user behavior analytics and insights
  • Custom 404 Page: Select Active Page or Active Content page to display when users navigate to non-existent pages (leave blank for default error page)

SEO (Search Engine Optimization)

Purpose: Optimizes portal content for search engine indexing and discovery.

Meta Information

  • Default Keywords (Meta-Tag): Enter keywords for search engines to index your Magentrix portal content
  • Default Description (Meta-Tag): Enter description text for search engines to understand your portal purpose
  • Robots.txt File: Upload robots.txt file to control how web crawlers and search engine robots index your portal

Under the Hood

Purpose: Provides advanced system controls for troubleshooting and experimental features.

System Diagnostics

  • Log Level: Select granularity level for system logs generated during user portal browsing
  • Enable Debug Mode: Advanced debugging feature that can only be enabled by the Magentrix team for troubleshooting purposes

Advanced Features

  • Enable Portal Email: Check to enable portal email sending functionality
    • Important: This setting only appears in Sandbox environments
  • Enable AI - Search Keyword Optimization: Check to enable AI keyword optimization for all search functions in Magentrix
    • Data Usage Agreement: By enabling this feature, you agree to the terms outlined in the Data Usage Disclaimer

Email Settings

Purpose: Configures the email account used for automated portal communications.

Send Emails From Configuration

  • Current Setting: Displays currently configured sender email address (e.g., info@magentrix.com)
  • Change Email Settings: Click to modify the email address used for automated portal emails

Email Configuration Process

  1. Click Change Email Settings link
  2. Enter the new email address for automated portal communications
  3. Click Verify to initiate verification process
  4. Critical: Keep the portal webpage open during verification
  5. Access the inbox for the specified email address
  6. Follow instructions in the verification email received
  7. Return to portal and click Change 'From' Email to complete the process

DKIM Configuration Note: Most email setup including DKIM (DomainKeys Identified Mail) authentication is configured by the Magentrix team during onboarding. Proper DKIM configuration is essential to prevent automated emails from being marked as spam. If DKIM is not configured during onboarding, emails sent from the system may end up in recipient spam folders.

Application Paths

Purpose: Displays and manages portal URL configuration.

Organization URL(Read-Only)

  • Shows the URL used by your organization to access the portal
  • This setting is configured by the Magentrix team during onboarding
  • Cannot be modified by administrators

Configuration Best Practices

Branding Strategy

  • Visual Consistency: Ensure all uploaded images (logos, icons, social images) align with your brand guidelines
  • Image Quality: Use high-resolution images that display clearly across different devices and platforms
  • Social Media Optimization: Use recommended 1200x630 pixel dimensions for social images to ensure proper display when content is shared

Email Configuration

  • Professional Email: Use a professional email address that recipients will recognize and trust
  • Inbox Access: Ensure you have ongoing access to the configured email address for verification and monitoring
  • DKIM Coordination: Work with Magentrix team during onboarding to properly configure DKIM authentication

SEO Optimization

  • Relevant Keywords: Use specific, relevant keywords that accurately describe your portal content and purpose
  • Clear Descriptions: Write clear, concise meta descriptions that help search engines understand your portal
  • Robots.txt Planning: Carefully consider which areas of your portal should be indexed by search engines

Advanced Features

  • AI Search Optimization: Review data usage implications before enabling AI-powered search features
  • Debug Mode: Enable debug mode only when troubleshooting specific issues, as it may impact performance
  • Analytics Integration: Ensure Google Analytics tracking code is correctly formatted and active

Ongoing Management

Regular Review Tasks

  • Image Updates: Refresh branding images when organizational identity changes
  • SEO Monitoring: Review and update meta keywords and descriptions based on content evolution
  • Email Verification: Monitor email deliverability and address any spam issues promptly
  • Analytics Review: Regularly check Google Analytics data for insights and optimization opportunities

  • Testing Protocol: Test branding changes in Sandbox environment before applying to production
