Creating Web Tabs
Administrators can create Web Tabs that embed external websites into iFrames within the portal. Web Tabs allow users to visit and access external sites without leaving the portal.
Note: Some external websites do not allow access to their content through iFrames. Making a Web Tab that points to these sites will deny users access to content and request that they visit the site directly.
Requirements
To create Web Tabs, users must be assigned a security role with the following permissions:
- Administrator System Role
To create web tabs:
- In the Setup Home Page, click Create > Tabs.
- Click New.
- Select Web Tab and then click Next.
- Complete the following fields:
- Label: Enter a name for the Web Tab.
- Unique Name: Automatically populated from the Label field. You may change the value if desired.
- Tab Style: Select a visual style for the Tab.
- Content Frame Height (pixels): Enter a pixel limit for the iFrame within the page.
- Web URL: Enter the URL for the external website.
- Tool Tip and Description: Enter optional descriptions to the Tab.
- Mobile Ready?: If you want users to access this Tab when viewing the portal in Mobile Mode, check this option.
- Click Next.
- If you want to immediately configure the Tab for security roles, change the value in the Tab Visibility field for each security role. This step can be skipped and configured later.
- Click Next.
- If you want to immediately add the Tab to Apps, check the Apps in which you want to include this Tab.
- Click Save.
