Deal Amendment Form
The Deal Amendment Form tab controls how partners can modify existing opportunities and how those updates are communicated to internal teams. An opportunity form can be designated for partners to amend opportunity records — changes made through this form will override the partner's normal field-level permissions.
To access this tab, navigate to Partner Management > Deal Settings and click the Deal Amendment Form tab.
Default form values from the selected amendment form will override existing field values on the opportunity record. Exercise caution when configuring forms with default values, as these will replace current data when a partner opens the amendment form.
Amendment Settings
Prevent Partners from Editing Closed Opportunities
When enabled, partners cannot edit opportunities that are in a closed stage (e.g., Closed Won, Closed Lost). This protects finalized deal data from being modified. This setting is enabled by default.
Enabling this option is recommended to maintain data integrity for closed deals. If disabled, partners may inadvertently modify closed opportunity records.
Select Form for Amendment
The Select Form for Amendment dropdown determines which form partners will use to update or amend deals. The dropdown is populated from available Opportunity form layouts configured in your system.
| Option | Behavior |
|---|
| --None-- | No dedicated amendment form is selected. The regular edit page layout is used instead. |
| [Configured Form Name] | Partners will use the selected form to update deals. For example, Partner Edit. |
Opportunity forms are configured separately under your form management settings. Ensure you have at least one opportunity form configured before selecting it here.
Amendment Notifications
Notify the Opportunity Owner When an Opportunity Has Been Edited by the Partner
When enabled, an email notification is sent to the opportunity owner whenever a partner makes changes to an opportunity through the amendment form. This is a parent toggle — enabling it reveals the following sub-fields:
| Field | Type | Description |
|---|
| Internal email address(es) to notify when an opportunity has been edited by the partner | Textarea | Additional internal email addresses to receive notification when an opportunity is edited. Enter a comma-separated list. |
| Email Template to notify the opportunity owner/internal email address(es) when an opportunity has been edited by the partner | Email Template Lookup | The email template used for the edit notification. The template can reference fields from the Opportunity entity. |
Click Save after making changes to this tab.
Best Practices and Recommendations
- Keep the Prevent partners from editing closed opportunities setting enabled (its default state) unless your workflow specifically requires partners to modify finalized deals.
- Always enable opportunity edit notifications so your internal team stays informed when partners make changes to active deals.
- Choose an amendment form that includes only the fields partners should be able to modify, rather than exposing all opportunity fields.
- Test amendment forms with sample opportunity records before publishing to verify that default form values do not unintentionally overwrite existing data.
